Swimming Bears in Tri-Meet with University and Morgantown
MORGANTOWN — Despite having a limited team due to weekend Madrigal dinners, Fairmont Senior’s swimming teams had a solid showing in a tri-meet with University and Morgantown on Friday, Dec. 11.
“All in all, I think we did fairly well,” Fairmont Senior coach Steve Sandor said.
Fairmont Senior’s girls took first with 109 points and the boys placed third at 75 points. University (189) nudged past the Polar Bears (184) and Morgantown (183) to win the overall team title.
The Polar Bears won eight individual events and two relays on the day.
Courtney Bright won the 100 breaststroke (1:27.47) and the 200 IM (2:49.92) to pace the Fairmont Senior girls’ squad.
In addition, Tessa Gardner added a victory in the 100 freestyle (1:02.99), while Zela Wyrosdick took the 100 backstroke (1:11.50).
The Polar Bears added victories in the 200 yard medley and 400 free relays.
On the boys side, Evin Mathai won the 200 free (2:28.87), Alex Petry the 100 backstroke (1:05.79) and Andrew McCoy the 100 breaststroke (1:17.10).
