Boys Move to 5-0 with Road Win
CLARKSBURG — Another year, same results for Fairmont Senior’s boys’ basketball team. The Polar Bears continued their perfect start Monday, erasing an early deficit in a 56-48 non-conference victory at Robert C. Byrd.
Fairmont is now 5-0 on the season and opens its league schedule with a huge game Wednesday at home against Preston.
Against the Eagles, the Polar Bears were forced to play catch-up. They trailed 8-0 to start the game but recovered quickly enough to take a 17-12 lead by the end of the first quarter.
From there, despite a 9 of 25 showing at the foul line, Fairmont Senior maintained control. It led 27-20 at halftime, 41-30 after three and pushed the cushion to as many as 14 points in the final period. Ty Garrison paced the Polar Bears with 21 points, including four 3-pointers. Ryan Sevier also hit double figures with 10 points, while Jonathan Logan chipped in seven.
Bill Pecora paced Robert C. Byrd with 15 points.
