Bears Rout Elkins, 71-36

FAIRMONT — Fairmont Senior’s girls’ basketball team took out its frustrations from Wednesday’s loss to rival East Fairmont on Elkins Thursday.

The Polar Bears had four starters reach double figures in routing the Tigers, 71-36.

“We knew we needed to come out and get a win,” Fairmont Senior head coach Ashley Reed said. “I think we played our best team-ball all season tonight.”

The Polar Bears were led by Katie Nunan with 17 points. Brooklyn Little and Jenai Stubbs both chipped in 16 points and Anna Starkey had 10. “When we share the ball like we did tonight we are tough to defend,” Reed said. “We haven’t played our game the last couple of times and we were able to run the floor more and get some transition baskets.”

The Polar Bears (9-5, 5-3 in the North Central Athletic Conference) will travel to University on Tuesday.
